To begin funding of the hyperloop2030 project we would install small outlets to purchase hyperloop models, prepurchase tickets refundable after 2030, camera shots and other materials that would promote the hyperloop while at the same time giving customers a chance to own part of the founding of a truly customer supported, open source mass transit system.
The majority of products will be sold in Las Vegas and will start in 2015. Establishing business relationships with Las Vegas casinos and travel bureaus might allow seasonal or part time kiosks in their lobby to attract curious clients and investors to begin to see the larger vision.

Hello,
I will cut to the chase. The Hyperloop can be done but not in the current locations. The area currently designated from Los Angeles to San Francisco is too heavily populated and space is at a premium so changing the political and transportation atmosphere would be too difficult to overcome without a monumental push by multiple billionaires.
The most desirable locations would be from high density populations to resort locations. One of the most obvious choices is Las Vegas, NV to Los Angeles, CA. Eventually branching out from Las Vegas, NV to Phoenix, AZ and possibly from Las Vegas, NV to Salt Lake City, UT.
Elon Musk's initial calculation of 6 billion is based on reality relative to his past and current successes so we will assume that for now. Just for barebones cost it would take 6,000 people or trusts to have a stake of 1 million dollars each in this project. I anticipate all the necessary stakeholders including myself to be found and put into a trust by 2020 for completion of the project.
It should take no more then ten years from construction to erect the first hyperloop from Las Vegas, NV to Los Angeles, CA. The initial stakeholders will need a full schematic, assurances of complete construction, remuneration of their holdings and future designs by 2018. That will take two years from the advertising to finding all necessary stakeholders.
This blog is intended to complete the project by 2030.
